OUR PROMISE

Sustainability means meeting the needs of today’s generations without compromising the needs of future generations.

At Twisted X®, we promise to continue our mission of protecting our planet.

With eco-forward materials, alongside, methods for a cleaner production, we are committed to raising the bar – every day – to ever evolve and push all boundaries, so a better tomorrow can be achieved.

Together.

Reforestation

Through our partnership with One Tree Planted®, we will plant one tree for every pair of shoes purchased from our ecoTWX® and Zero-X collections. Reforestation is one of the best solutions to climate change available today. That is why, to date, we have committed to planting more than 300,000 trees in the United States. Introducing these new trees into the environment will offset 7,298 tons of carbon dioxide, which is equivalent to taking 1,586 cars off the road for a year. We will continue our pledge to plant trees and bettering our planet.

The Arctic Shipping Pledge

We have joined the Arctic Shipping Pledge, vowing that we will not be shipping our products through arctic waters that are now accessible due to climate change. Previously unnavigable, the melting arctic ice allows faster transit times, but at a high cost to an increasingly fragile ecosystem.

Waste Reduction

Our Office is single-use plastic free.

Our Production process strategically cuts our leathers to minimize waste. By utilizing the leftover materials from these cuttings, we up-cycle the leathers for our youth and infant shoes. Ongoing efforts are in place for glue usage by minimizing and/or removing glue for a greener product and world.

Our Shoe Boxes are made from 85% recycled materials.

Our Catalogs & Collateral materials utilize soy-based ink, recycled paper, and small-batch printing to prevent overproduction and waste.

Twisted X Global Brands is striving to create new and innovative ways to sustainably make footwear. Here are a few of the methods and materials in play today!

Uppers

ecoTWX® (pronounced e-koh-twix)

Each pair is made from an average of 13 recycled plastic bottles. This material is created by deconstructing recycled plastic water bottles and weaving in the fiber into knit materials. To date, we have recycled more than 4,600,000+ bottles from polluted oceans and landfills.

Additionally, for every pair sold we planted a tree in the United States. To date, we’ve planted more than 200,000 planted and counting.

corkTWX® (pronounced kÔrk-twix)

Noninvasively harvested from the bark of cork trees. Cork is breathable, lightweight and odor-resistant, which makes it an ideal sustainable material for footwear.

ecoTweed Lining

Made from 100% recycled P.E.T. bottles.

Migration from nylon lining, to a 50/50 ecoTWEED® and bamboo charcoal blend, is an initiative that encompasses a more natural approach. More breathable, antibacterial, and odor-absorbing.

Merino Wool

Renewable and biodegradable natural fibers sheared from Merino Sheep. Naturally balances body temperature all while keeping feet dry. This wool is soft, breathable, and odor resistant.

Vegetable Tanned Leather

Environmentally friendly, plant-based vegetable matter is used to create rich color in our leathers.

Midsoles

Algae

Our goal is to protect our waters and everything that lives in them. Harmful wild algae can be noninvasively harvested, providing a clean and balanced environment for aquaculture and ecologies. By implementing algae into our midsoles, we are able to do good with something that is harmful.

Molasses EVA

We substitute more than half of the EVA with sugar cane molasses, thus, resulting in a more natural approach. Leveraging eco-friendly agricultural waste instead of harmful substances makes for a better environment.

Outsoles

Rice Husk

We turn rice husks, a by-product of the agricultural industry that is typically thrown away, into a comfortable outsole blend of 20% rice husk and 80% rubber.

Laces

Bamboo Laces

Migration from nylon and/or cotton laces to 100% bamboo laces.
